In response to drought breaking rain in her region, Shirley Peters visited many waterways, starting with her own backyard, and then onto the larger falls nearby. Although she "plein air" painted at some of the locations, these large paintings began as sketches on canvas in the studio. Shirley has played with the transparency of the oil paint placing layers over layers to capture the feel of the wet rock surfaces, and depicting forceful flows, ageing water-worn rocks, contrasting with young soft foliage and gentle light. Animated NFTs have been created by the artist for some of these paintings. Link in description.
